LGBTQIAP+: the debate about “B” invisibility, discussed on reality TV

This week, a conversation that took place on BBB 23 was a reason for reflection: one of the participants in the reality show is bisexual and spoke about the invisibility of bi masculinity. Let's understand this tour?

“For men, I’m always the faggot. To women, I’m always the gay one.”

Contextualizing…

“Until I joined the program, I wasn’t out as bisexual. I came out here. Male bisexuality is very invisible. Within the LGBTQIA+ community I feel somewhat invisible, but it is when dealing with people who are not from the community. For men, I'm always the faggot. They, the straight men, will treat me like the gay friend, and the women will treat me like the 'gay friend'.”

Furthermore, the actor also spoke about how horny he feels in women, and that they often forget this by making intimate jokes. On one occasion, within the reality show, participant Key Alves asked Gabriel to grab her butt.

“Women always want to have a type of intimacy with me that I don't want. I always say 'because I'm hot for you'. The other day it was quite by accident that Key said 'grab my ass' and I replied that 'I wasn't going to do that. I'm horny, man'. And even more so in this place of intimacy, the bisexual man is seen as gay and the bi woman is seen as a fetish. Bisexual men are always seen as homosexuals by society.”

The brother also spoke of his concern about how people outside the brother's house BBB are you seeing your bisexuality.

“For this reason, this [jokes] always triggers me. As I came out here, my head explodes: when I dress more feminine in here, my head explodes! So that’s the only reason it didn’t sit well with me.”

But what is bisexuality?

Bisexual It is the sexual orientation of those who are attracted to both sexes. This can be linked to physical, emotional and sexual attraction. It is worth mentioning that bisexuals can also be attracted to non-binary people, that is, people who are not strictly masculine or feminine, outside the gender binary and cisnormativity.

Like all human beings, Bisexual beings are plural. In other words: the way romantic and sexual desire manifests itself varies from person to person, as do their particular preferences.

With Gabriel's story, it was clear that bisexuality has no gender, right? Bisexual men exist, just like women, cis or trans, transvestites and non-binary people can be bisexual.

Sexual orientation is not gender identity

“Bisexuality is a whole, fluid identity. Don't assume that bisexuality is naturally binary or polygamous: that we have “two” sides or that we need to be involved with two genders simultaneously to be complete human beings. In fact, don’t assume there are only two genders” – Bisexual Manifesto.

O Bisexual Manifesto was published in 1990, in the American magazine “Anything That Moves”. According to the text, the bi community He spoke out against prejudice and took a strong stance on his way of loving.
