Poland will protect border with Belarus with almost 10.000 soldiers

Poland intends to reinforce its eastern border with Belarus, an ally of Russia, with almost 10.000 soldiers, the Defense Minister announced this Thursday (10), who warned of potential security risks.

“There will be almost 10.000 soldiers: 4.000 of them will participate directly in operations to support the border police and another 6.000 as reinforcements,” Mariusz Blaszczak told public radio.

On Wednesday, the minister had announced the mobilization of 2.000 additional soldiers to reinforce security on the eastern border, which already has a presence of 2.000 soldiers.

Poland, a member country of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), recently warned about Belarus' provocations and the risks of the presence of the Russian Wagner mercenary group in the country.
