Prince Harry accuses William of assault in 2019, says The Guardian

British Prince Harry tells in his new book how he was physically "attacked" by his older brother, Prince William, during an argument in 2019, The Guardian newspaper reported yesterday (04).

According to the newspaper, the story of the incident appears in Harry's new memoir, “Spare”, which will be on sale later this month, amid conflicts in the British royal family.

Harry writes that during a disagreement in the kitchen of their London home, William called his wife Meghan Markle “difficult,” “rude” and “harsh,” before tackling him to the floor as the argument continued, the Guardian said.

“He grabbed me by the collar (of my shirt), ripped off the collar and threw me on the floor. I fell into the dog's bowl, which broke on my back, with pieces cutting me", reported the Guardian, citing the book.

Harry then told his older brother to leave. William appeared “remorseful and apologized,” Harry said, according to the newspaper.

The vehicle continues the conversation between the two princes mentioned in the book: “William came back and said: 'You don't need to tell Meg.'

'Do you want to tell me that you attacked me?'

'I didn't attack you, Harold,' replied William, who appeared to be using a nickname for Harry.”

Buckingham Palace has not commented on the matter.

The British royal family has been preparing for months for the potentially explosive revelations contained in the prince's memoirs, which in 2020 shook the monarchy when he and Meghan announced that they were stepping down from their roles as royals and went to live in the United States.

The latest revelation about the brothers' tumultuous relationship comes as their father, King Charles, prepares for his coronation in May, following the death in September of their mother, Queen Elizabeth II, aged 96.

After years of rumors about the tumultuous relationship between the two brothers, who were very close in their adolescence following the death of their mother, Princess Diana, in 1997, Harry settled the score with William in a controversial documentary series entitled “Harry & Meghan”, released on Netflix in December.

In the series, the couple attributes much of their unhappiness to racist attacks against the former actress, an African-American, and harassment from the tabloid press.

The move to Meghan's home state of California has made them unpopular in the UK, where they are often portrayed in the press as selfish.

In excerpts from an interview with ITV in the United Kingdom and CBS in the United States, broadcast this week before the book's release, Harry stated that he wants "a family, not an institution."

“I would like to have my father back. I wish I had my brother back,” said Harry.

Although they appeared together, with their respective wives, in September, before gathering in Windsor to pay tribute to their late grandmother, it appears the two brothers have barely spoken since Harry and Meghan moved to the United States.

In March 2021, the couple made harsh accusations against the royal family, including one of racism, in an explosive interview with TV star Oprah Winfrey.

“We are not a racist family in any way,” William reacted with raiva.
