New law gives 'automatic residence' to Brazilians who are in Portugal

Good news for Brazilians who live or want to live in the country! A new model of residence permit in Portugal for immigrants from countries in the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) came into force this Wednesday (1st), which promespeed up the residency application process. 🇵🇹

The new law grants a one-year residence permit for immigrants from CPLP countries (Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor) – without having to go through the expression of interest process – which today takes up to two years.

With “automatic” residence, CPLP citizens will be able to work, enroll in courses or rent properties legally.
