Ipec: Lula has 51% of valid votes, Bolsonaro has 37%

The latest Ipec survey, commissioned by TV Globo before the first round of the presidential elections shows that former president Lula remains in the 50% range of valid votes (51%), fluctuating one percentage point lower in relation to the previous survey.

Bolsonaro remains in second place, fluctuating 3 percentage points down (37%).

Why did electoral polls start to reinforce the disclosure of valid votes?

Four days before the election, voting intention polls gained great prominence in the political world. In a scenario where the presidential race could be decided in the first round, research institutes began to reinforce the disclosure of valid votes estimated for the election. According to the Estadão electoral poll aggregator, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) leads with 52% of valid votes compared to 36% for Jair Bolsonaro (PL). With this result, the PT member would be elected on Sunday night (2).

Other candidates

Ciro Gomes (PDT) has 5%, with a fluctuation of 1, tied with Simone Tebet (MDB) who has 5%.

Soraya Thronicke (União Brasil) appears with 1%, as does Felipe d'Avila (Novo), 1%.

3008 people were interviewed, between September 29th and October 1st, in 183 municipalities. The survey was registered with the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) with the number BR-00999/2022.
